More Today...
My friend Tamara just sent me the funniest picture! It's of her family right after their Thanksgiving meal and they are all lying on the couch (her mother, father, and brother) with their pants unzipped and their hands on their bellies. All around them are trashed plates of Thanksgiving remains. This is what my friend wrote:
"Every year we tell ourselves we won't overeat and every year we end up on the couch with a big bellyache!"
As many of you know - I just did an appearance on the Today Show about the pitfalls of overeating during the holidays. In case you missed it check it out at:
http://ivillage.feedroom.com?fr_story=bbfa1322e1a903ebc68ac5e59816da7608dc9dc1.
Is overeating during the holidays - especially Thanksgiving - just something we should come to expect? What tricks or tips worked for you guys on Turkey day? How can we make sure we don't end up with belly aches on Christmas, too?
If you are still nursing a full belly hang over from the holidays - stress no more! You can sign up to take part in our iLose It For Good Community Challenge. I am excited about this challenge because it is going to be addressing a lifestyle/body change from the inside out.
In addition to being the self-esteem coach for the challenge - I am also thinking about being a participant! Would you join me? If I can get at least 20 people on this site to pledge to do the challenge, I will do it along with you and take a taste of my own medicine (ouch!) :)
Could be fun - what do you say???
Comments
I really appreciate your comments on the Tyra show, they were very inspiring.
You are such a great inspiration and I thank you for that. I look forward to hearing more from you in the future in the public eye.
DO IT!
You gotta practice what you preach, right?

and how about here's to changing our lives from the inside...out! :)
i'll do it!
Christmas time at my house is very minimalist in terms of food. My sister is vegetarian so out goes the turkey and ham. The rest of us don't eat that much so we end up buying fish for christmas. My cousin buys a small ham. She sends a few slices to our house so no over eating goes on in terms of food. Our biggest weakness is deserts, like christmas cookies, icecream, cake. Thats where we have to work really hard. But I've signed up for the challenge and hoping it will help with my sweet tooth
I'm doing it, I packed on too many holiday pounds
I've signed up already too! I can't wait either! I think it would be great to have you join us Jess!
I am so excited to do this with you and everyone else. I need so much help! Thanks
I'm already signed up. I need to get rid of stress weight and I have my lose it for good pledge posted by my desk at home. I'm going back to school to finish my degree (at 47 years old) and this is where I do homework.... BIG changes this year!!!
I signed up today! I'm not waiting until then to start...but I'm sure that I will still have more to do before meeting my weight and fitness goals. Who can't use a little more encouragement!
I've signed up. I've been pregnant or nursing since 2004. Two babies later I have weight to lose and a body that I'm not proud of.
I'm in .. I wanna do this
Hey--
I just thought of something--why don't we all mark our weight loss progress on this part of Jess's blog? It would be kind of fun to see how far people go with this challenge...
Or we could create a totally new blog entry for the challenge--
Poet - I love the idea of you guys tracking your progress on this blog - I just also want to make sure that we don't spent too much time talking numbers on here...I am open to it as long as when you post about a weight loss you challenge yourself to also express what else you are 'losing' or 'gaining' in your life - i.e. new friends, better sex life, empowered voice, etc.
We just get so connected to our 'numbers' that I don't want everyone to be comparing stories based on that.
What do you guys think of that?
PS and more poetry please!! :)
