Let's talk about Becks, baby
Let’s dish about guys’ bodies for a second, shall we?
A new study out of UCLA has found that big, brawny, muscular young men are likely to have more sex partners than their less-chiseled counterparts. Apparently, the researchers say, women are somehow predisposed to be attracted to buff men. They compare it to peacocks (ahem) – biceps and quads are like bright turquoise and royal blue feathers, calling out to us with their studliness and potential in bed.
I don’t know about you, but when I think of heavily muscled men, I think of Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime or those guys on the cover of the crazy fitness magazines, veins bulging out. Or the TLC show about the man whose biceps exploded. I feel like sex with those men would be excessively sweaty and have to involve mirrors so they could admire their glutes.
Then there are the guys who have just the right amount of bulk. Nick Lachey, anyone? David Beckham. Mario Lopez. Josh Duhamel. Taye Diggs. (As an aside, I also think Matthew McConaughey is too hairless and his arms are way too short for his torso, so I have to disagree with People Magazine.)
But here’s where the study, published in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, gets interesting: While ladies were found to be more physically attracted to muscle-y men, it tended to be for a fling. When it came down to finding a long-term partner, we typically want a regular Joe. The brawny men raise our suspicions regarding their ability to settle down.
Adrian Grenier, are you listening?
Ladies, did I leave anyone out?

I am going to sound so ridiculously cliche, but I really do think Brad Pitt has just the right amount of chisel and brawn. But when I think about the guys that I have been instantaneously attracted to, none of them looked like Brad Pitt or David Beckham. To me, the "looked" intelligent and confident and that just happened to come in all shapes and sizes.
Don't get me wrong, if Brad Pitt winked at me in a coffee shop, my heart would certainly skip a few beats and I would probably pass out!
I totally agree with you, although I had to read this post twice.
The first time, my brain went, "Wait. Some guy's biceps EXPLODED?!?!" Now that's a mental picture that will take ages to fade from its honored place in my sparkly brains...
I love men. I think they're great. I like how they can act like total infants one day and then step up and make big decisions the next. I like how they don't get swayed by their emotions as much as women do and I think they make better friends. They are equipped with different tools than us, but somehow, we have so much in common.
As for the study, that doesn't surprise me. I bet that's even true for women's fantasies, that they choose to imagine a buff young stud. But then they remember that guy spends hours in the gym, maybe shooting steroids, popping zits, picking out a tight Simon Cowel-like glove of a shirt and being a raging jerkhole. Man, those guys are kinda funny. Saw a show on a couple of guys who were obsessed with their muscles. They don't like to be called meatheads. Hurts their feelings.
Do you mean "pecs" as in pectorals? At first, with that title, I thought you were talking about Becks beer!
I actually meant Becks, short for David Beckham, but by all means, lets talk about pecs, too!!
As a Spinning instructor I spend a lot of time in various gyms and I have the privilege of checking out men's bods of all shapes and sizes. Personally, I am more attracted to a man who is healthy, fit and reasonably muscular than a man who looks like he could lift a bus with one finger. The bulkier the dude, the more narcissistic he appears to me. I'd much rather have a man who has a healthy balance between work, family and working out than a man who looks as if he spends his every waking moment flexing his biceps in the gym.
Very interesting and professional site! Good luck!
Hi there! Your site is cool!
For starters, there are body types.
Some are naturally lean, some fat, some muscular, that is totally depends on genetics.
the shape of your muscles too is largely genetic, what Brad has as an awesome advantage is bone proportions.
So how do you achieve a similar body?
The answer is primarily in your fat %. If you are a gym enthusiast who has huge muscles, you will have to end up losing muscle first.
As you notice, Brad doesnât have much muscle. The tone comes from just above average muscle and fat % about 8.
So how do you get a body similar to Brad Pittâs?
Well, for starters you should look into things like circuit training, HIIT but most of the lean look is the result of good nutrition.
How would I define good nutrition here? Well, primarily a very low carb intake, a low-medium intake of good fats (almonds, olive oil, fish), multi vitamins, antioxidants and high protein consumption.
And keeping in mind the nutrition is VERY TIMELY. That means small meals with nutrients as mentioned above 5-6 times a day.
