Hey all,
It's a beautiful, 74-degree day here in Chicago and I'm going to spend three hours of it in a dojo, learning how to open a can of whoop-ass on would-be assailants in an empowering self-defense class for women. Wish me luck! I'm amped up and ready to take down some peeps/perps!

Make sure you let us know the name of the self defense class you took. My teenaged daughters and I have been looking for something like you described here in the L.A. area and haven't been able to find anything other than ongoing martial arts classes - not our thing.
I started a self defense class Saturday! So I have to ask Leslie... are your legs sore?! Because I consider myself in shape, but it's Monday morning and I can still barely walk...
I'm about to post about my experience with deets, but Nikki, wow - you must've kicked some major ass because I was not nearly as sore as you!! My class was focused on empowerment skills as well as physical moves, so there wasn't as much punching and kicking as I'd have expected - put it was still great. Cool that you got a bonus workout out of it :-)
