This is just morally wrong

Hayden -- Cellulite or Bad Light? TMZ wants to know.

Who the F%$ cares? Leave the girl alone!

In other "never good enough" news, Miss England Georgia Horsley (20 years old, and at 5-foot-8 and 126 lbs., a
size four) has been advised t gain some weight if she has true intentions of winning the Miss World pageant.

OK society, so what do you want? Who can win? Tiny actresses fit enough to play high school cheerleaders on a lead show get excoriated if their thighs aren't as smooth as silk, and beauty queens have to go against a naturally athletic shape to beat out other (presumably curvey) women.

Yeah society really needs to butt out of our/other people's bodies. We're all guilt differently and shouldn't be compared to any standards of beauty.

Why do people praise individualism when it comes to style and personality but wave their fingers at it when it comes to body shape or weight? Ugh it drives me crazy!

Maxim's list of the top 5 unsexiest women... Leslie's and other people's thoughts, please.

Posted by Nikki on October 27 at 03:59pm

I can't believe Maxim had the gall to run that list. Esp. since almost all the women (all?) are mothers. Plus their commentary was so inflammatory as to make me think they were just trying to be idiots to get lots of press. It's just another example of what Leslie is saying with this post - you can't win, even when you play "their" game. It'll never be good enough.

PS Leslie> Skinny bitch??

Honestly, I hadn't even heard of this list until Nikki's message. My first thought was "Please let it be a bunch of misogynistic politicians." I was giving the lad mag too much credit. I have no idea where they came up with this list, but their comments are not only hurtful, but antisemetic (Madonna) and, like Charlotte said, anti-"mom." Definitely a publicity stunt and just so dumb, I don't even want to give them more space here.

C-I know, I am way late with my book report. But I HAVE read it (actually whipped it out Saturday night when we had friends over.) I'll post soon!!

I'm glad you both also mentioned how the women were moms. I saw the list, and I knew we would all not like the list, but I think I was almost in shock over it. Like, Maxim magazine isn't bad enough, they also have to publish this stupid list.

Sandrah Oh is gorgeous btw. =P

I was wondering if you guys saw that list and the story on Miss England. *sigh* I guess that is society for you but we can rise above :) Without sounding too corny maybe we should make up our list of people (men & women) that we love for whatever reason? Or a list of the top ten ways to deal with stupid news such as above. Just a random thought.

Oh and for the record I love SJP too especially in The Family Stone and SATC.

Seriously, EVERYBODY has cellulite. Even the fittest, skinniest people. EVERYBODY HAS CELLULITE. Period.

I dont get bringing mothers into it. what do you all mean by that? are we going down the all mothers are beautiful earth mothers etc etc road? if so thats fine but this is a un-sexy list made by men per their tastes madonna - not sexy any more too manly for men although i would love her body.
britney - complete disaster no need to say more.
SJP- i think she's gorgeous but men dont seem to agree and really she does not have a sexy vibe.
sandra oh - to me she is unattractive, weird face
amy winehouse - come on! none of you think she is sexy you're just being ridiculous. she doesnt even look after her teeth, wears dirty shoes. come on!!!
so i dont get the problem, with the list. these guys at maxim are entitled to their opinions. relax. being a mom does not automatically confer sexiness upon you. sorry ladies

Cassie,

Part of the problem is that I believe Maxim and all forms of media that affect and shape public opinion have a responsibility to do that in a positive way. If you don't believe that, then I guess you wouldn't have a problem with the article. But publishing negative comments about women isn't being positive and it's not positively shaping men's view of women. Women get old. Women get wrinkles. Women gain weight. That's life.

I guess the point I made about some of the women being moms is that their lives have a greater purpose than being a sex object. They have more to worry about than how they will look on the covers of magazines.

As for Amy Winehouse and Sandrah Oh, they have never gone out of their way to promote themselves as sexy, so what is the point of judging them that way?

In my opinion, the issue here is that a men's magazine has taken it upon themselves to publicly criticize and humiliate five women by calling them "unsexiest" - whether they're a mom or not, regardless of gender or talent. It serves no purpose. I can't imagine a women's pub getting together a list of "least sexy men" and highlighting men with less desirable physical characteristics. Maybe we'd call men who cheat, lie and hurt others "unsexy" but we don't tend to publicly attack physical attributes. I guaran-frigging-tee the men who compiling the Unsexiest Women list are schlubs who think they're far funnier than they really are.

its certainly mean spirited and it would be so hurtful to be labelled that. but i dont think maxim has a responsibility to shape public opinion in a positive way. its just a magazine, a light easy read titillating mens magazine. people want everyone else to be reponsible for them. think your own thoughts.
