Look at this ad.

WTF?
I just don't understand how ads like these make it through numerous levels of consideration and approval. I mean, did not one person think, "Hmm...it looks like her vagina is placed directly in the middle of a gigantic bullseye"? Did no one wonder aloud, "Ya know, I get the whole 'snow angel' angle but maybe aiming the lens directly at the center of her spread eagled legs is not the smartest choice"? Really - nobody?
Keep in mind that bullseyes are used for freaking target practice (no pun int.) with rifles.
What are you thoughts on this ad?

Target in general is a really good company and they have always been sensitive in not offending people, so I think this is just a case where they left an ad with more room for interpretation than usual. The snow angel imagery would have come across more definitive if they made the background bulls-eye look more like snow.
The camera angle doesn't help anything either. It's like they're shooting it from between her legs - why not just a straight shot from above? Okay, I have to stop now. Everything I type just keeps sounding dirtier and dirtier...
Gee, you know, i ve seen this but i never even thought about it in that context! geesh i am soo naive... But to be honest, when i am dead tired, that how i like to lay, covered up of course and in the privacy of my home...imagine this in times square?
I love Target, but, I'm sorry, I have a hard time believing this was a mistake. Call me cynical, but these ads go through a loooooong process before they're approved.
I've seen people complain about this ad, and I agree that Target is usually pretty nonoffensive, and I do see the snow angel idea. But I just have to wonder how many people would have had to miss this. If it was really a mistake, their ad agency needs a new proof department or something. I just don't know what to think.
I know I'm naive... I looked at the ad and thought you were referencing her third arm. It took me several moments to realize it was her scarf.
And the truth is, despite what I used to think, you'd be amazed at how short the process of getting an ad from a story board concept into print, and then approved. It can happen in as little as three days. But looking at this ad closely, you'll notice that there's no where else for this woman to go, legs spread or not, as she's almost as tall as the bullseye itself. Unless you put her off to the side, she's going to end up in the dead center (no pun intended here either).
My vote's with the majority: perhaps, but not intentional.
