Why all the ED posts lately?

Good question. I never formally announced it but many of you may already know that this past week has been National Eating Disorders Awareness Week. The campaign's theme this year is Embrace Your Genes and in keeping with that message, the NEDA has partnered with TrueJeans.com, an online jeans boutique that lets you download a "measuring tape" so you can submit your measurements - the company then matches you to designer jeans that fit your unique body shape. From now until March 31, you can save 20% on jeans at TrueJeans.com (which will come in handy, because that stuff is muy expensivo). Just enteri discount code "MYGENES" during check out
Also, check out the wonderfully-named and surely in-demand Little in the Middle clothing company. These jeans, designed by a woman, are one size smaller in the waist than the hips, which is appropriate given the company's tagline, "Clothes for Normal Women."

Thanks for linking to those jeans, Leslie. I am forever struggling to find pants that fit around my legs comfortably but don't gape obscenely at the waist. This is great!
oh how cool. I LOVE True Jeans! This makes me love them more.
I have a boy cut figure, and more Apple shape, and most women's clothes are cut with a 10" diff between hips and waist. It's really hard finding jeans that fit which is why I like True Jeans. I'd like to think that Apple and straight shapes are normal too.
Why do they want us to think it's normal to have your waist a size smaller than hips? Mine used to be a size BIGGER than my hips. Fortunately, after friends pointed out my "potbelly", I got lipo later on, and probably have the same size waist/hips now. So I guess if I wanted to fit into these jeans properly, I would have to get MORE lipo on my waist to be a "normal" shape or "sexy". It makes me sick that flat stomachs and little waists are considered more feminine....I would have to be 90lbs to get that!
Sorry for the rant....maybe it's jealousy :)
Wow - this is something that has irritated me for a long time. I have rather athletic thighs so if I buy pants to fit my waist then my legs look like sausages. If I buy for my legs - waist gappage. Although the jeans they sell at truejeans are EXPENSIVE! They'd have to be the cutest jeans on the planet to make me even consider paying that kind of $$$.
I remember having a discussion with a friend who has the same problem as Steph & Beth about the new Layne Bryant jeans (the 3 fits etc.) & all of us wishing they came in smaller sizes as well.
interesting points - I suppose I got so caught up in the fact the company made jeans for curvier women that I glossed over the fact that using the term "normal" in their tagline can be construed by some to think, "What - I'm not 'normal' because I'm apple-shaped or slim-hipped?"
Thank you soo much for linking True Jeans!!! I've never heard of it before and I think I'm in love. I need a 35/36" inseam and will usually sacrifice a perfect fit just to get the inseam because there aren't that many options otherwise. These jeans are pretyt expensive, but it's definitely good to know about for the future!
you just make superb effort to custom design the outfits required by many off the line. A great effort to bringing in out-of-shape to in-shape no matter how expensive it is - it is a true worth. ATB, Lots of love. Keep the verve on.
Hi! I am the owner of Little in the Middle. I didn't mean to offend anyone with the tag line of "Clothes for Normal Women". I always felt abnormal because I could not buy any pants, shorts, capri's or anything on the bottom to fit me, so that is why the tag line "clothes for normal women". So, I do apologize for offending anyone. Lee Ann
