Watch me on the Today Show on Thursday!

Hey everyone,
I'm off to NY for a Today Show appearance (Thursday morning - will post the time slot as soon as it becomes available). UPDATE: 10:02 am EST! Very exciting! The topic? Spring break and eating disorders.

While I was upset at the time, I really am glad now that we didn't have cable growing up. I was never subjected to this kind of imagery until college, and by that time I realized how wrong/bad/unhealthy it is to fall into the trap of the whole Spring Break "ideal."

how exciting, I will set my tivo so I don't miss you tomorrow.

as for MTV spring break, you hit the nail on the head for me. I was chubby in high school and always watched with great envy, wishing I was one of the skinny bikini girls.

Congratulations Leslie on getting featured on the Today Show! I will make it a point to watch and cheer from my living room. I work with lots of young wormen who have deep wounds and problems from the silocon implants that result from lack of good body image--I find it sad. Happy on the other hand that I don't get my self esteem from my bra cup size.

Ill be cheering you on from TX.

me? Im still weighed down by the sad and senseless death of the 18 year old from a breast enhancement.

at what cost (fingerquote) beauty (unFQ)?

Today show is all set on TiVo!

I was right there with you watching Spring Break on MTV. When it started I was only 12 or so. Great role models! When I finally went on Spring Break in Cancun all of the wet T-Shirt contests etc. were going on. My friends and I looked at eachother and decided we didn't want our mothers or friends seeing us on MTV or Girls Gone Wild. So, we just sipped our Coronas on the beach and giggled and pointed at all the craziness going on around us.

Very exciting! The Leslie on Today...I shall have to record as I will be (pout) slaving away.

Should be a very good segment, can't wait to see it!

Yay Leslie!!! Congrats! I don't have TV but I'm totally getting one of my friends to tivo it for me.

As for Spring Break - it's a little different for Mormons so I think my experience was very different than your typical college Spring Breaker. Although I did always watch those MTV specials (at my friends' houses since we didn't have cable) exactly how you described it - slack-jawed amazement!
