"A cheeseburger away from being obese."

According to a highly scientific report in the New York Post today, Star Jones (who had surgery to facilitate a massive amount of weight loss) recently hosted a taping of "The Bad Girls Club" reunion special (admission: I absolutely nucking futs LOVE this show) in which one bad girl accused another of being "a cheeseburger away from being obese."

Chaos, obviously, ensued (I mean, have you seen the show? An empty juice container was enough to elicit a physical blowout...imagine what would have happened if the whole three-girls-peeing-in-a-sink prank had become common knowledge) and after bodyguards took down all the girls, Star joked, 'If I punched every bitch who called me fat, it would be dead bitches all up and down the highway."

When I read this, I chuckled a bit at first but now I'm thinking, was that really appropriate? Isn't Star Jones an accomplished lawyer who used to sit next to Barbara Walters on The View? Then again, she is now hosting a reality TV reunion involving gross mishandling of sexual body parts and fights resulting in a stage littered with hair extensions. Then again, why in the sweet cracker cheesecake do I care?

What do you think of Star's comments?

  • Sassy with a hint of snark - hey, she has a sense of humor!
  • Offensive and a tad violent
  • Who's Star Jones?

I think it was her use of the phrase "dead bitches" that irked me.

PS The reunion episode airs Tuesday on Oxygen! I'll be there! (shamefully) If you want to know why I watch, it's for ridiculous-yet-amazing scenes like this.

Never seen the show. Can NOT stand Star Jones so maybe someone should punch her out. (sorry, a little hostile today)

haha, I LOVE Star Jones, so I'm incredibly biased!
I think it was maybe a little inappropriate though, but cursing is rarely appropriate to begin with.

BAHAHAHA! Ok, thanks for the Diet Coke-thru-the-nose snort today. I needed it.

NUCKING FUTS?
oh no you di'nt quote from that piece of cinematic wonderment which is Dickie Roberts. Love.
(and if you didnt mean to refer to that please to ignore the above)
no words for star.
am I just overly tired or why does it *depress* me that such a smart woman has lowered herself to B.G.C.?!
(Im tired. ok. duly noted)

Thanks for stopping by. And Star can't seem to figure out if she should act ghetto or like an educated woman. She is an idiot.

I don't know anything about Star or the show but it seems to me like her comment was in context and appropriate for the show. That said, I don't like the phrase "dead bitches" either but I'd lay the blame at the feet of a show that creates such contrived violence between women purely for entertainment's sake. Blech to the whole thing.

Pop Off! God I love this show. Why does it have to end? The verbiage is a little gutter for Star but I'd imagine that hanging out with those chicks can make anyone get a little rough. Lyric totally stole that put down from Puffy though. On Making the Band he told D Woods she was just a cheeseburger away from being fat.

You actually admit out loud that you watch the BGC???...lol...ok, I watch sometimes too. It's like a trainwreck you can't help yourself watch but then I gotta switch off because the bad vibes just get too much sometimes.

I didn't see that particular episode yet but Star's reaction doesn't sound shocking and perhaps it's not the classiest thing to say but in context she's talking in accordance with the culture of that household.

Pop Off!

never seen the show but that clip they play repeatedly on my guilty pleasure THE SOUP?

HILARIOUS.

star doesnt seem like a 1-punch knock out kind of girl.

she could maybe annoy me to death, or smother me with saggy, chicken wing.

This is what happens when you take a short cut and cut out your stomach instead of losing weight the proper way with diet and exercise. you can lose weight but you will still be just as saggy.

A little strength training goes a long way.

I dont watch the show but i saw bits and pieces because Oxygen on my cable box is one channel up from Bravo which i am addicted too, so sometimes i peep over next door when bravo has commericials. Anyways, as stated i think she said this to fit the context of the show, but i personally don't like it when women get called bitches, (i think its funny when men get called that though, because its usually said by gay men like Jack from Will and Grace). I got called skinny bitch by a homeless person once when i gave him food, and i once got called skinny bitch when i overheard the woman gossip to her friend about someone else, and that sorta pissed me off too. Why are we female dogs!? i love my dog, and i dont think i have the guts to call her a bitch. And whats with the violence??? i miss ghandi (not the fasting diper wearing part).

I hate everything about Star Jones. Period. I would just rather not think about her at all.

Oh dear, I'm missing so much by letting my internet addiction interfere with my television watching! I had no idea there was such a show, only a vague idea who Star Jones might be, and no clue at all what the 3-way peeing might be about.

Must learn to turn off computer occasionally.

Hey, what's wrong with "dead bitches"? Unless it's that it wasn't "dead stupid bitches" or something like that...

Honestly, it doesn't bother me...one, because I can TOTALLY see myself saying that very thing, and two, because I think you have to really not take shows like that very seriously. You have to watch them as pure street-level entertainment, you know, like a monster truck show (to which I've never been, but I can't imagine anything MORE street-level) or when the neighbors are out in the backyard screaming at each other and hurling lit cigarettes and kitchen utensils at one another's heads. :-)

(Hm. I think I may have just inadvertently revealed that I live in semi-rural West Virginia.)

Oh well. I found it somewhat snarkily amusing. But I'm in a snarky sort of mood myself today. And also, I'm somewhat known for my embracing of the word "bitch". It's only an insult if you view it as one, and I don't. I'm rather in touch with my inner bitch, thanks! :-)

As for Star herself...whatever.

V.
