Dangerous curves ahead

Tyra Banks on the cover of the current New York Times Magazine:

"I said a hip, hop, the hippie, to the hippie, to the hip hip hop, ah you don't stop, the rock it to the bang bang boogie, say up jumped the boogie to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat."

Yeah, Ty-Ty's brick shithouse curves are making me sing! Daaaaamn, girl! "I put my hand upon your hip;
When I dip, you dip, we dip."

For a little side-by-side (coughAIRBRUSHINGcough) camparison, check out her hips in the SI cover below:

Admittedly, these shots were taken over a decade apart, but hip bones don't just widen like that, do they? I mean, I know childbirth changes things up a bit but (a) Ty-Ty is not a mommy and (b) she appears to have gone from ultra slim-hipped to POW! right in the kisser.

I think she looks auw-tongue. You?

I think she looks fab here (although I do agree with Steph's take on her hypocrisy). Gorgeous hourglass. Although I find it interesting that on the SI cover, which is all about what the men drool over, she looks like a boy with boobs. Why do men prefer the stick-thinedness?? Or do they? Man our culture is so schizo.

On a side note (hee) - I think she "grew" those hips by gaining weight all over. She's bigger everywhere. And I'd be willing to be that in addition to major undergarment support underneath that LBD, there was a bit of photoshopping as well.

I think it's amazing that they could get her hair to go wider than her hips. (I'm not saying that she has big hips, I'm saying that it's hard to get anyone's hair to do that. Though, I'm sure it's not here hair!)

I like the SI pic better, but that's just me.

I think Charlotte's got it right. She has gained some weight over the years, but I also think she was only 19 or so at the SI shoot, right? I know my hips have gotten bigger since I was 19, but I weigh the same (and strangely have gone down a jeans size....).

Either way, she looks phenomenal!

Thats quite a difference! But she does look amazing.

Yeah, I don't think the original Sports Illustrated issue was photoshopped much.. instead I think they whittled her waist down a little in the newest cover. She's still looking pretty good though.

I think she does look amazing, but does she really look this perfect in real life? Or did a little photo retouching create this ultimate perfection?

Pul-leeze!! You can clearly see the scissor-cutting around her body on BOTH photos! I found out several yrs ago that this is done on almost every model on a mag cover to achieve that "ideal" image. The result is that it makes us all falsely feel like our own bodies don't cut it (pun intended)!!
