I have a confession...

I have been eating something truly disgusting, wholly unnatural and definitely not "clean."

Brand: Edy's® Slow Churned® lite ice cream
Flavor: Take the Cake
Description: Yellow cake flavored light ice cream with frosting swirl and multicolored sprinkles.
My unforgiveable sin: It contains an opaque teal swirl not unlike the nasty IHOP WhoCakes syrup. I did not know this swirl was hiding inside the carton when I purchased it a PMS-induced sugar frenzy but I must say, it's seriously disturbing (that I've kept eating the ice cream, I mean.) Don't get me wrong - I've been furiously and diligently digging out the swirl with my spoon and dumping as much infected ice cream in the sink but a few dribbles inevitably wind up in my mouth and I just CRINGE knowing that I am consuming something not found in anyone's nature - not even on Mars. Seriously, the thought goes through my mind, "MizFit would throw up if she knew I was doing this" - and I DON'T EVEN KNOW THE WOMAN! See how we all seep into each other's psyches?

The easy thing would be to throw out the carton but I have a weird, Depression era-esque thing about conserving food so it shall emain in my freezer. Hopefully all the edamamae, frozen chicken breasts and shrimp, whole-grain waffles, Ketel One vidka and other healthy fare in there will intimidate the Edy's into the back of the shelf, where it will remain for weeks, developing blue frostbite and never again infiltrating my mouth.

Confession complete.

Please, please do tell me - what crappy food do you find yourself ating even though you know it's about as natural as Posh Spice?

I had a Slurpee and a Taquito from 7-11 the other morning for breakfast.

Oh SISTERFRIEND, you are my psychic twin.
Just this morning I was giggling whilst I ate/checked my email.

One message asked about clean eating and addressed homemade tortilla making (!).

I looked down at my food and thought:

IM SUCH A SHAM.

Life is way too short to not have Dipping Dots for breakfast sometimes.

Or Gummy Bears as your midafternoon snack (followed immediately by turkey slices to mitigate the sugar crash!).

I surely do NOT want on my tombstone:

She always turned down a sweet treat and never indulged.

:)

I love your blog as it makes me laugh *and* think.
(& I like to think that's not easy to do)

I have a weakness for sticky taffy-like candy - Starburst & Airheads. Oooh and candy corn!

Posted by keyalus on May 13 at 11:22am

oh and how can i forget the most embarrassing fake food i enjoy.... it hurts to type but.... cheez whiz!

Posted by sasa on May 13 at 11:33am

LMAO...I'm trying to think of my particular unnatural, unclean indulgences, but...my mind keeps whispering "Yellow cake...yellow cake..."

Oreos and Oreo Cakesters. (shudder) And honestly, Oreo Cakesters are the most horrible, disgustingly oversweet, sickeningly rich and probably trans-fat laden things on the planet. There's really NO upside to eating these...

The MizFit is TOTALLY my personal clean-eating drill sergeant too. :-) Every morning, when I'm pouring sugar-free non-dairy creamer (I don't even WANT to know what's in THAT stuff) into my coffee, I get a virtual guilt-trip from her, and she doesn't even know it! :-)

I'm a big fan of "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray." Actually, I really only use it on airpopped popcorn, which I don't make all that often. Can we say chemicals much in that?! (My cats like it too)

Posted by Palmtreechick on May 13 at 12:12pm

I like to slather raisin toast with Betty Crocker chocolate frosting for breakfast.

First, can I just say how much I LOVE that vodka is included in clean food?

I put potato chips in my Lean Cuisine panini. So many things nutritionally wrong there, but I just love it.

(P.S. Next time go to Cold Stone and get the birthday cake remix. It's SO worth it!)

Anything with sprinkles! I also had Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Therapy ice cream the other day (chocolate ice cream, chocolate cookies and chocolate pudding). And yep, I got sprinkles on top! It was heavenly.

You're absolved, my friend. My weakness lately...honeybuns.

Candy is my thing, but a little bit now and then won't kill ya!

Posted by Dan on May 13 at 01:55pm

Skittles are my thing, but a little bit now and then won't kill ya!

Posted by Dan on May 13 at 01:55pm

I'm so glad you included the vodka as part of the healthy freezer stuff!

I've been good lately, with my eating...but tater tots. I think they're almost natural - they are potatoes, after all, but I can never, ever turn them down. I love tater tots. With melty cheese, of course.

Nutella! I'd sell my grandmother if it were the last jar on earth, no questions. I put that stuff on everything: bagels, crackers, fruit, husband. I use it as a dip, as a topping, as a pick-me-up, and wonder if it would make a good face mask?
It's really unhealthy. I just need a spoonful and I'm happy.

Mmmhh, hazelnutty sweet goodness.

M&Ms and Milk Duds. But I have strict rules: M&Ms only when travelling and Milk Duds only at the movie theater :)

Posted by Rachel on May 13 at 05:33pm

Leslie, I just brought that same exact ice cream this weekend!

Posted by Kim on May 13 at 05:45pm

I *heart* the Cinnabon stix ... with "icing". And an occasion gummy bear :)

Posted by Leslie in Toronto on May 13 at 06:18pm

Oatmeal Creme Pies. OMG. I cannot help myself. And there is probably not a bit of real oatmeal or a drip of real cream. SO wrong, yet SO heavenly.

Posted by rebecca on May 13 at 07:54pm

ok, I feel much better everyone -you've got some great doozies here. I love how dora just lays it all out there: "I had a Slurpee and a Taquito from 7-11 the other morning for breakfast." Nice.
PS why did nobody tell me I spelled vodka wrong? fixing now...

Posted by Leslie on May 13 at 08:17pm

Haha, Miz Fit is my healthy-eating/fitness fan conscience too! I was doing my 21's today in front of Australian soaps while my hot chocolate cooled wondering what she'd say.

Candied popcorn in the cinema is my crack cocaine...but I convince myself it's not too bad...popcorn is healthy, after all.

And don't get me started on how long it takes me to tackle a pint of Ben and Jerry's...

Man, the way you wrote about that ice cream, it sounded so good until you told me the fudge like swirls were TEAL. Heck no.

I refuse to eat anything that's oddly colored and that I can't identify. This however does not stop me from raiding the fridge at home since my mommy dearest buys enough ice cream for us to dip in for dessert a few times a week.

Sigh, I love it so, but I'd love it even more so if it would disappear from the fridge all together!

I am in LOVE with dark chocolate with pecans and raisins..Hate half a bar in one sitting, yummy!

Posted by Rachel on May 14 at 12:30am

Lucky Charms. They really are magically delicious.

Posted by Crabby McSlacker on May 14 at 07:13am

rocky road ice cream for breakfast! you guys are so funny.

Posted by peaches on May 14 at 07:52am

I'll eat anything that's kosher (except dill pickles -- eeyuck).

Posted by Mary on May 14 at 08:57am

Anything with an artificial cheese coating. If it's neon yellow, even better. I heart cheesy popcorn especially.

Posted by Carmie on May 14 at 09:12am

White chocolate brownie from Moxies. I'm already swooning at the thought of that delectable brownie!

And I used to have the BIGGEST infatuation with the "silver bag" seasoned sunflower seeds... I'd seriously eat like a bag in 2 days. It took me many, many years to cure my addiction from them:)

Posted by Sagan on May 14 at 10:03am

Ha! I just had that EXACT ice cream for dessert at hubby's friend's house!
Ok, so my list - twizzlers, cool whip (right from the carton), swedish fish, sponge-bob fruit snacks, cadbury eggs, whole marshmallows, fluff, and skittles.

But Shhhhh! don't tell anyone ;-)

Posted by Jacqueline Carly on May 14 at 10:27am

I had an entire bag of neon sour gummy worms yesterday. I even smacked my kids' hands away from it saying it was Mommy's treat. Still recovering from the hangover:)

PS> Glad to know I'm not the only one who hears all y'alls voices in my head!

Posted by charlotte on May 14 at 01:43pm

I have GOT to try that ice cream - I love Edy's Slow Churned but have yet to find that one. Thanks for checking out my blog, I'm glad you liked the food! The whipped bananas are what I put into the oatmeal, and as they warm up they get extra creamy (almost like a marshmallow) and taste great :)

I'm looking forward to reading your blog now - I'm aspiring to be a health writer myself! How did you get into it specifically? Congrats on your books!
