It's "Who serves yogurt at their wedding?" good

Different people have different opinions when it comes to yogurt. Those two TV bridesmaid actresses practically have orgasms over it, while lifelong dieters have been trained to tolerate it, as it promises to whittle your waist into a teeny-bikini size 8. Jamie Lee can't be regular without it. Guys often gag over it. All of my friends with eating disorders (myself included) in college practically lived on the frozen stuff (Peanut butter fro yo with Golden Grahams for dinner? Yes, please!) Uber-crunchy gynies will even tell you to dip a tampon in the plain stuff - not, I repeat NOT the vanilla kind) and rocket-lunch it up yer hoo-hah to prevent yeast infections. And, of course, nutritionists love it for its "bone-building calcium and tummy-filling protein" (Jesus, how many times do we need to read that same tired line over and over in magazines?)

Let me start this by saying...I kinda like yogurt. I eat Dannon Lite & Fit lemon or peach about twice a week, but not straight - it must be mixed with a very healthy amount of cereal and craisins. And twice a week I eat Fage 0% Greek yogurt, which I absolutely LOVE and would eat every day if I weren't afraid of burning myself out on it. Oh, and I really like kefir, and not just because one of my best friends is CEO of Lifeway, the nation's #1 maker of the delicious, creamy, probiotic-filled treat.

OK, all that creamy-filled crap aside, I aboslutely must share the following video with y'all. Kate Harding at Shapely Prose posted it recently and I was just laughing out loud at it, like a freak.

Please, take some time out from your busy, shortened work week to avoid deadlines and watch the following - it starts off a lil slow but gets wicked funny (my cousin Rob from Boston was in all weekend). One of my favorite parts is at 1:15...check out the response of the narrator.

Other gems:

“Get it? It’s not real food..it’s yogurt!””

"It's the “I have a Masters but then I got married” look."

"Say more stuff I generically relate to then go to a wedding!"

"It's 'Who serves yogurt at their wedding?' good."

"Who's on first? Yogurt is!"

Do you like yogurt?

  • Mmm...I love that stuff! It's just so freaking GOOD for me!
  • Gag me with a spoon. The texture makes me pukey.
  • Only when it's frozen, mixed with buckets of sugar, swirled and topped with Reese's PB cups.
  • I don't like it, but I'll cram it down my gullet every so often just so I don't wind up with a Dowager's Hump.

That's AWESOME!! Two crack ups in one post...first from reading and then the video. Love it! Thanks Leslie!

(maybe I should change my blogger name to Princess Consuelos Banana Hammock!) Ha ha! I don't know why that cracks me up so much.

I love yogurt! I really do. Yogurt comes to work with me about 4-5 times a week, on average, and I always look forward to my afternoon "yogurt break." (Of course, I also look forward to my late-morning tea break, my noontime fruit break, and my pre-commute-home "wildcard healthy food" break).

It started out as a super-convenient food to commute to work with, and then I started to like it more and more, and then I found out that it's actually really GOOD for me. Yay!

My husband also likes yogurt -also for the "quick healthy lunch" factor- but only in certain flavors, particularly ones that involve a red fruit (pink yogurt) or maybe blue/purple. White, yellow, peach, orange and funky mixes (i.e. apple cinnamon) need not apply - he won't eat it. But I will!

Hahaha so true. I have a love-hate relationship with yogurt. There's NO way I could eat it every day or even four times a week.. when I do, I get tired of it and even disgusted by it.

Ahahah I love the video! I like my yogurt plain with frozen berries in it. I eat some pretty much every day or every other day.

I do like yogurt and I eat it every day as long as it is yogurt I like...Yeah, follow that one. I don't like any of the sugar-free, fat-free yogurts. They all have a chemical taste to them. Ugh. I enjoy a nice reduced fat, creamy yogurt. Mmmm!!!! And yeah, fruit is a nice addition.

I love yogurt. I eat it basically everyday except for today because I ate it all already. I'll eat the flavored kind, the plain kind, the anything kind, usually without any extra mix-ins.

I do however, like a big serving of Greek yogurt with some granola and fresh fruit for breakfast.

Love me some yogurt too! Although my husband and his whole family balk at the idea of eating any. I put it in the blender with an old banana - yummy!

Okay, I'm sitting here watching/reading this while eating a Fage yogurt!! How crazy is that? I hatehatehate artificial sweeteners (and that includes HFCS) so I avoid 95% of yogurt. But I LOVE my greek yogurt. Today I'm eating it plain with chives & garlic cut up in it with an artichoke but my fave way to eat it is with a spoonful of honey, a handful of berries & nuts!

As for the video and your post? I laughed so hard that I'm sending it to every girl I know. And hey - I have a master's degree and then I got married. AND I'm wearing a hoodie! Ooooooh!

Count me among the Fage 0% fans! I like mine with strawberries. This video cracked me up, especially the "I have a master's degree..." line.

Thanks for always finding the funny, Leslie...

In the interest of full disclosure, the woman in the dry-cleaning commercial (wearing the hoodie!) is a friend from grad school. Kudos to her for getting the job (whoo-hoo!), but I hate the light, artificially-flavored stuff.
And, like Charlotte, I got my masters, got married, and am currently wearing a hoodie.
That post is hilarious!!!!!!!

Am I the only one who always overbuys yogurt. I'm all, "Ooooh, it's 10 for a dollar!" And then 6 out of 10 rot in the fridge.

I actually have always loved the stuff and eat it pretty much every day. But I actually really dislike all these new ones out ... the don't taste right. The low fat and "issue-specific" ones are the worst. Any of the full fat, fruit bottom ones are yum.

PS. I am going to watch that clip over and over again because it is way awesome :)

I love that video! I enjoy my yogurt. I can't stand the artificially-sweetened ones anymore, but I use the organic plain (with frozen fruit) and Fage for their protein and calcium factors. I've never thought about how yogurt really is targeted to women!

I posted about something from Women's Health on my blog and thought you might find it interesting.... :)

Very funny, thanks! I will try the Fage yogurt next. Love the video.
Yes, I almost have a Master's degree, got married and would be wearing a hoodie if it were colder in So. Cal.

LMAO...I have to disagree though...I thought the 3:15 "I'm gonna *** my pants!" dance was the best!

I lurve me my gray hoodies, though. But yogurt, well...I'm lukewarm about it. No matter how many commercials I watch. And no, it is NOT shoe-shopping good. Nothing's that good. :-)

I love yogurt, i cant stand cheese and milk so i rely on it for calcium. But that said Fage actually has the least amount out of the yogurt bunch, although higher in protein. No one attack me, but i am not all that in love with Fage. I do like it but like leslie said definelty not alone, usually with bran flakes and some strawberries. I love fro yo, yea even those laced with chemicals and whatnot. and i am not talking the pinkberry kind, i like the real sweet stuff. since starting Nutritious Junk, these two guys who invented an "all natual" yogurt called "carb-a-whey" (using whey protiens) wanted me to review their new concoctions so they let me sample a bunch of their inventions. it was a lot of fun and they are trying to get whole food and traders to pick it up. I just thought it was funny how all these women were lining up at the fro shop and two guys were the masters behind the obsession. Its weird, have you ever seen men as in love with yogurt as most women are???

This was great. Advertising cracks me up, and I like Charlotte, am definitely sending this one out so that others can see how ridiculous it is and have a good laugh. And Greta, that is exactly my issue with yougurt and why I've practically stopped buying it. I always get too much and never eat it in time or get bored with it. I only like the "natural" flavors like strawberry or raspberry... not the dessert flavors. Also, since I've switched to soy and rice milk I haven't found a great non-diary alternative so I've just kind of cut it out. But this video and the host of it was great!! It's so true!

OMG I just peed my pants! NO, REALLY! I am at work AND I JUST PEED MY PANTS WACHING THAT VIDEO! and I have no jacket or cover up to wear around my waist! FUCK!
