If a drop of back fat falls onto a Victoria's Secret runway model, does anyone see it?
You betchyer bippie they do.
Victoria's Secret model Karolina Kurkova, 24, is being attacked in the media over her recent appearance at Sao Paulo Fashion Week. KK deigned to walk the walk with what naysayers are calling "back fat," "love handles," and "cellulite."

An article in one Brazilian newspaper described how "shocked" the audience was when the 5'11" stunner appeared looking uncharacteristically chubby with "cellulite on her butt."
VS must've thought she looked hot enough because she opened the show...watch the video below to demolish your self-esteem for the day see her in the very beginning and at 7:35
FYI Brazilian model Ana Carolina Reston, 21, died of anorexia in November of 2006 from complications of anorexia. This VS show - and the ensuing hubub - took place in Brazil. Just sayin'.

Er...uh...whah??? I have fat rolls on my pancreas worse than that.
I hate the modelling industry at large. My self esteem was doing just fine until I saw this ... Who calls that FAT???
she's still too skinny... I think she could gain a couple more drops of fat and be hotter than ever - kudos to Victoria's Secret or whoever's idea it was to let her saunter down the catwalk like that, I hope more models follow in her footsteps
"Back fat" "cellulite" and all, she's still only about the size of my thigh!
I think she's beautiful and the fashion industry is out of control. I can't think of any more complete sentences to express myself, so I'll let everyone else do it for me. I'm pretty sure we'll mostly agree on this one!
Sigh...that's back fat?
That's outrageous. Just because she doesn't look SEVERELY underweight she's considered "fat"? This is getting to be really ridiculous. That's just insulting, rude, cruel, and also untrue for them to be saying those things about her.
Oh yeah, she's SO clearly obese. Give me a break. Is skinny and dead really preferred to this beautiful woman?
The only thing amazing about the pictures is that her "gluteus maximus", her butt, is sagging...that can only mean that she has said "screw everybody", I'm taking some time off my exercise routine and want to have a little fun eating my favorite things...hell, even if she were off with some "bad boy" male model stud she would be in better shape than those photos suggest...you ladies always look better with curves but Karolina where "work clothes" that "expose" her to "back seat driver" ridicule...4pack
Okay. I think she is pretty damn sexy. BUT, I do see why the press had a fit. She has a pooch on her stomach, a little droop to her ass, and her ribs don't show. That is NOT typical for a model. That being said, I think it is redonkulous, and WISH I had her body.
I have horrible vision. I mean seriously, can't see more than two feet in front of me without my glasses. But having said glasses on and looking very closely (a coworker just asked why my face was pressed to my computer monitor)... Are my eyes really that bad that I'm missing the cellulite? Because I don't see anything that even remotely resembles the cottage cheese in my fridge on her body.
That being said... I think she has a beautiful body, that the only reason she looks like she has a droop in her stoop is because NO WOMAN ON THE PLANET can carry off those bikini bottoms, and that the people of Brazil need to come out of the bubble and realize this is the real world.
First off, its a fact these women dont look like they do in the magazines in real life. how much do we hear about airbrushing and slimming and evening out via computer. and then people are shocked when they are actually real women? bizarre.
i feel so bad for her. i mean, shes a person. i take compiments the wrong way sometimes: i cant imagine how it would feel to be torn down that way. shes only 24 for god's sake, shes a baby.
She looks really hot there on the runway. She doesn't look like that in print. No model looks flawless in person as they do after retouching. And they shouldn't be expected to, they're human, they have flaws, and if that's fat, then there's really no hope for me to be considered attractive.
But, she doesn't look 24. Just sayin'!
I think the media is silly...I will leave it at that.
I don't think that was the best suit to put her in (at least the bottom) but she looks fine to me and I think the media scrutiny is pretty unreasonable.
How can we expect to be happy, healthy, self confident women when bikini models who most of us would strive to look like, are being put down?
I wish more models looked like her. Hell, I wish I looked like her!
And I forgot to say, she is incredibly talented. If I tried to walk like that, even barefoot, I would fall flat on my face!
Ugh. Some of those women had biceps smaller than my wrists. I love my curves! Karolina looks great compared to some of the fuzzy lollipops they've got walking down that runway.
I finally figured out why they all look so hungry-they're hungry! i am surprised at their ability to swing hips they really haven't got!
This is so sad! ONE woman on a cat walk who DOES NOT look like an emaciated pez-despencer or a bobble head gets attacked for being FAT!!??
This society is screwed!!!

If she was just some woman walking down the street she'd be super skinny, but she's her professional model and it's her job to be thin and perfect.
Not saying that it's ok... or that we should all try to look like her, cos we shouldn't... but it's her job to be thin. If you don't wanna be thin then don't be a model :)
I can't figure out what was supposedly wrong with her appearance. She looked fine. I would guess she eats meals like most women do. Those remarks make me angry. She's almost 6 feet tall. I've never seen anyone that tall who looked right being super super skinny. I'm almost that tall, and I'm definitely not skinny skinny, at least 160 lbs, maybe more. It would help me shop better at Victoria's Secret and other stores if more models who look like her were out there.... I shop less, not more, when I see not one image that resembles me out there and it just makes me feel bad about how I look. I resent being made to feel constantly bad about how I look by media and culture. Looking in the mirror, I feel fine until I see a magazine at the supermarket or turn on the tv. I don't buy ANYTHING when I feel bad about my appearance, which I think that's why they try to make everyday women feel bad, so we spend more money on stuff they convince us we "need" to try to be beautiful. I know this; I'm prettier smiling.
hahahah- I can't believe that this becomes news. How sad.
Wow. She is a whale! :-)
Yesterday I was looking through a VS catalog and I was amazed by how many of the models there have obviously had a boob job. So, the message the fashion industry is trying to send us is that we should starve ourselves to death and then have boob jobs to fill in our breasts! Lets face it: 6ft tall, super skinny women with large firm breasts are not exactly abandant in nature, so we should all resort to surgery to reach this ideal!
There are also the Paris fashion shows: Painfully thin women with pale faces, hollow cheeks, blackened eyes and frizzy hair. I don't need a fashion designer to make me look hideous, thank you very much. They should try concentrating on making women look and feel beautiful.
I like natural-looking models. I can identify with them and I would be far more likely to buy clothes if I could visualize how they would look on me.
Ha, lilly, I was thinking the same thing. Whenever my VS catalog comes in the mail, I sit there looking at it with my husband and we pick out all of them that have implants. I think there may be one or two girls with natural boobs in the whole catalog.
I don't think this model has "back fat"; it looks more like just wrinkled skin. Sort of like maybe she's spent too much time tanning or something.
There's a difference between being thin and being in shape. Karolina probably never had to work out a day in her life and now that she's 24, she just may have to start...if she wants to stay in the business. Fat? No. In shape? No. Very thin? Yes. Most people have to work out to look firm. Time to hit the gym for a weighted work out, Karolina.
Ok, definitely VERY skinny... but maybe the thing here is not about weight, but about fitness. She does look skinny, but does she look in shape?? Think not. She should eat AND work out more to tone that back and butt!!!
OMG baby got back, ease up, she fine.
She's not fat, she is flabby. No muscle tone is all! She could firm that up in no time.
AGREED, leave her alone. She's got an ASS, big whoop. She's not toned, BIG WHOOP. She decided to eat something we normal non-models like called CARBS, OH NO!
Back off, the media needs to just back off!
