Thank heaven for little boys
A conversation from today at the gym. It begins by me entering the facility, being greeted by two young guys, maybe 19ish, behind the check-in counter:
Boys: Hey, Leslie. How you doin'? (Note: This was likely rhetorical)
Me: OMG did you know I've been on bed rest and in physical therapy for a bulging disk and it's Killing me to not be able to lift weights, blah blah, another three minutes or so.
Boys: "That sucks!"
Me: "I know! Especially for a freak like me who loves working out. I feel like I'm melting."
Boys (in tandem, no less): "Oh, NO! You look great! You have nothing to worry about."
Me: *bats eyelashes* "Oh my God, you two are so sweet! Can I eat you for dinner? Thanks for saying that! See ya later!"

I am a Cougar now.

I wish that the boys at my gym would respond to me like that... except that I'm 18 and so are they ;)
Hmmm...a young man in his 20s actually called me "miss" this weekend. I was so thrilled not to be "maamed" that I was almost beside myself.
That's right...I'm calling it a compliment.
Such good service! Usually when I walk into my gym I get, "what crazy crap are you doing today?? Oh and by the way, the fitness floor manager says you're banned from the jump ropes." Sigh.
Dara - I get ma'am-ed all the time. I'd take a "miss" as a compliment any day!
Hehe - what a great story! :) My Mom occasionally gets asked if she's my sister (I'm 23 years younger) - she smiles and glows for the next week or so after that.
Ah, isn't it funny how such casual kindness can make us smile for the day? Flirty exchanges with the cashier in the newsagent usually puts me in a good mood for at least ten minutes!
I'm kinda curious about why Charlotte might be banned from the jump ropes :)
Ooh saucy! Is it just me or are 19 year old boys looking younger and younger...?
and youve posted a pic of my favorite one.
Nice work! The best I ever seem to do is wistful gazes from spotty shelf-stackers at my local supermarket. I dream of being totty for teenage gym staff....
TA x
Awesome! There's something kind of... magical about getting attention from men that age. It revs up my inner wildcat. Meow!
Amen. In the interest of circumspection, that's all I'm going to say. That, and if you're going to get a second job, work at Target, they hire the really HOT young guys. :-)
V.
I got called "ma'am" the other day!
I'm freaking 23 for crying out loud and it was by a guy is his fourties at least.
I scoffed !
wow, they know you by name? im at the gym pretty much every freakin day and i barely get a "hello."
i hate 24 hour fitness.
Amy - we were trying to do this workout I found on the Internet but didn't have the equipment for. So we used some jump ropes to tie a couple of dumb bells together and then string them over a free motion machine. It worked! But they were NOT happy with us. Apparently jump ropes are for jumping rope. Sigh.
every gym's nightmare: 24 does suck ... in many ways. that being said, i'm still a member since i work out at odd times during the day and the rec center just doesn't cut it at 10:30pm (i.e., closed).
that, and i used to work at one. never had bad of a body image until that. *sigh* still, if you were at mine and came in between the hours of 6am and 2pm, i most likely would have known you after a while - out of the regulars in that period, i knew/recognized around 2/3 of them. yes, that's a lot of people.
and go tell the manager. i almost got fired for not smiling at people (still saying hi, though. damn depression that stupid place put me in.).
you go cougaress!
That's funny!
I'm thinkin' those guys have a crush!
I got carded at the grocery store a few months back. YES!!!
And at my yoga class the other day I ended up next to a 20-something guy with ripped abs, tats, and Keith Urban-type hair who TOOK OFF HIS SHIRT about 15 minutes into class. (It was freakin' hot in there. I wanted to take my shirt off, but that would have scarred everyone for life.)
I'll DEFINITELY be going back to that class, lol!
From age 13 on I used to think it was odd that I could be so attracted to boys years younger than me... why did I find them SOOO cute?
At age 23 I set a limit for myself: "I won't date a guy who's 18 or younger."
A few months later I met and began dating the man of my dreams and the love of my life - he had just turned 19.
When we married he was 21 and I was 26.
Maybe it's because I look young myself? I'm short, I inherited my mom's youthful features, and at age 28 I still almost always get carded - even for cigarettes!!
(er, yes, I smoke from time to time, and yes, I know, it's bad for me)
RAWR!!! ;)
Sorry about your back but happy to know the college age dudes are good for a ego boost.
haha!That's so sweet!!
I found a best place for Younger Women/men and Older Women/Men, or Younger Men/Women and Older Women/Men, to interact with each other. Age gap is not a problem there.
If any one is intrested in , u can go there.Enjoy your life!
