Hello, cutie!
Remember when, a few weeks ago, I desperately begged you to send me pics you've snapped of your naked boyfriends body-positive signs and images found around town? Well, check out this email I just received from snap-happy Weighting Game reader Shannon (reprinted with her permission):
Hey girl, I have to start out saying I love your blog and your book. Sooo awesome. You really know your stuff!
Anyways this is a pic of my desk at work. On my computer I stuck a little sticker that says "Hello Cutie" I was eating one of those little oranges, I think they call them Clementines, it had that sticker on it, so I put it on my computer for a nice little hello each day.
Thanks for your hard work and your heart-felt, funny, witty, and kind writing!
-Shannon
And her pic:

Ummm...loves it! See how something so tiny can still make an impact? I envision that lil sticker's message seeping into Shannon's subconscious every time she sits down at her computer. Looking up the names of Brad and Angie's new twins? "Hello, cutie!" Sending a raunchy e-birthday card to a friend? "Hello, cutie!" Trying to look busy while avoiding work by typing out lists of her favorite childhood cartoon characters? "Hello, cutie!"
The weird thing is, when I was in college, I found a similar sticker on an apple I was eating. It said "Juicy and delicious!" And, I swear, I peeled that sticker off and pasted it to my fake ID with the hope that its slightly salacious innuendo would distract bouncers from the fact that I clearly was not a 5'2" blonde named Stacia. Great minds think alike!
PS This is my inspirational and very body positive blog/pic of the day. Bravo, Semi Charmed Wife!

I love that sticker! I also have to say that I don't have nearly the courage of Semi Charmed Wife or others who posted pictures of themselves in bathing suits online. I am in awe of them and not at all ready for such a bold move. I feel like I've come a long way in body image and ED war over the course of my life, but I'm not quite there yet. All I can say is wow--good for them!
(I love bravo & semicharmed wife. rimshot!)
cant wait for more pics!!
What a great idea!
Alas, if I were peeling off food labels, the "Contents May Have Settled" warning would probably be most accurate. (Ah the joys of being in one's forties).
But I agree "Hello Cutie!" is a much more inspiring idea.
My mum had a t-shirt that said "Objects under this shirt ar larger than they appear." And she would wear it in public. THIS is why I'm should be in therapy ;)

Thanks for the shout-out, Leslie!
I love the "Hello Cutie" sticker--it lifts my spirits to think about seeing that sunny little message every day!
I have that exact same sticker on my fridge! its from a clemetine! i also have an inspoirational pad that says, "BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. Cause no one else here does."
But thats the opposite of what you want, huh?

I want that sticker! I've never found a good sticker with a saying like that on it. Now I'm tempted to scout out all the fruit at the grocery store and gather up all the adorable stickers I can find:)
Thanks Leslie :))))
Maybe the chiquita banana sticker could be a good one? She looks pretty happy, right? Of course, she does have those puffy sleeves which is sooo 80's banana. Surely its time to update her to a nice sleeveless version? ;)
