I've got a crush on...Blake Lively?

blake-lively-400ds0905.jpg

Seriously. I'm about two Foul Balls away from switching teams. What is it about her that makes me wanna throw her down on the bed and tell her what a bad, bad Gossip Girl she's been? wish I could be her BFF? Is it her crazy luxe life on TV? Her impossibly luscious long tresses that are so completely opposite from my three-strands-of-fettuccini-width ponytail? Her tall girl-ness and the promise of sharing wardrobes?

I don't care if she had a nose job. I don't care about her borderline pornographic OMFG Gossip Girl ads

All I know is I need to nail this down and get it out of my mind ASAP because my infatuation, ignited a year or so ago when I fell into the trap of watching GG, is now leading me to think bad thoughts. As in, "Maybe I should see Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, Part 2." In theaters now. And I never even saw Part 1!

I believe this is part of a generalized phase I've been going through in which I mentally vacuum up the most craptastic reality TV as possible...I've moved from excellent taste (Project Runway; Real World, So You Think You Can Dance) to bow-my-head shame (Tila Tequila; Rock of Love; [don't hate me] I Love Money.) The other day, I even turned on this stupid "I Want To Be On a Japanese Game Show" thing...on purpose.

What is wrong with me?

There's nothing wrong with you! I definitely have a girl crush on her too.. for essentially the same reasons. You should actually consider seeing the first Traveling Pants movie- it was pretty good :) I also have to admit that along with reading plenty of mature, grown-up books, my guilty pleasure is the Gossip Girl books. I currently have four checked out from the library. Yeah.

You really should see the first Traveling Pants movie -- I think it was Blake's first role (or very close to it). And the "bad" taste in TV is its-summer-so-there-is-nothing-on-tv-itis.

I also had the crap T.V. problem! And like you, you know it's bad when you don't want to admit the names of the shows you watch. And I couldn't just pick a few - I had to watch them all which sucked my time away. My solution - I canceled my cable and I don't watch T.V. anymore - going strong for about a year now. Now don't get me wrong, I still watch movies and DVDs, just no T.V. shows! P.S. I still don't have enough time :o)

Oh yeah, and I'm sad because Gossip Girls is one I totally would have watched. I've caught myself once or twice going onto the internet to watch an episode of some show and I have to scold myself. I do own all the friends DVDs so if I have to I can watch them to fill that craving!

Don't worry - I watched Rock of Love, too... and I don't know why! It was just some crazy addiction, but I think I am over it now. ;)

Posted by FatFighter on July 24 at 05:08pm

Um... I watched Rock of Love 1 and 2 and nearly died of excitement when I heard there's going to be a 3. I know it's horrible. I can't explain it. But I ADORE it!

Posted by Jen on July 24 at 05:38pm

Of all the girl crushes you could have this isn't so bad. Gossip Girls is a totally acceptable guilty pleasure in my book!

Posted by Megkathleen on July 24 at 05:49pm

Will you be my best friend? K thanks!

You should watch Traveling Pants 1 just for the scene where Blake comes off the soccer field in her sports bra and takes her blond hair out of her pony tail... actually, that will do the opposite of curing your bad thoughts! ;)

Tila Tequila and I Love Money...yeah I'm definitely guilty of those. Also my two guilty pleasures are (were, because they're off-season right now) I Love New York and Flavor of Love. Oy.

this is unreal...i thought i was a freakcake for loving this chic so much, but low-and-behold, our thoughts run parallel again.
oh, and what else are we supposed to watch in the summer?! i will never NOT watch reality tv. ppl who talk s*** on it are lying. its too great, esp SYTYCD. keep up this great blog! love it!

and traveling pants 1 is a great flick ;)

Posted by adrianna on July 24 at 09:21pm

totally hot. i'd do her.

Posted by Fitarella on July 24 at 09:27pm

I liked Sisterhood 1 a lot, as well. As for reality TV? My faves are "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Animal Cops" on Animal Planet. I can't handle the dating and contestant shows anymore; way too intense!!!!

Posted by Alyssa on July 24 at 09:30pm

loved her in traveling pants! (and needed tissues b/c I am a sap that cannot wait for the next one!)

And now I have to get "Accepted" just to figure out what Kelly is talking about!

Posted by workout mommy on July 24 at 09:56pm

Wow - I've got to go against the grain here (not to interrupt the lovin' or anything) and say that she does nothing for me. I read Sister of the Travelling Pants (don't judge - I was stuck in Barnes & Noble while my kids played Thomas the Train forEVER) and therefore can never see the movie. I have a strict rule against watching movies made from books I liked. And yeah, totally loved that book.

I'm 12.

(So Kelly? Yeah, you sound kind of creepy...;))

*wipes brow*
whew
for a moment I thought you were going to try and steal America (the woman not the country) from me.

SOTTP American. Not the tv show which rhymes with Schmugly Smetty.

Im all about the old school girlcrush.

Posted by MizFit on July 25 at 05:59am

(oh and kelly? sadly I know precisely to what you are referring. as does my LOVING HER AS WELL hubby)

Posted by MizFit on July 25 at 06:00am

She's pretty hot...I'm usually more into brunettes though. Probably because I is one. :-) I must admit I'm all about Katherine Heigl right now though, professional uppityness notwithstanding.

I'm gonna have to opine that girl-crushes are totally harmless. At least, they'd better be. I mean, girls like this, you have to either want to (a) do them; (b) be them; or (c) kill them. Of the three, I think the first is the least psychologically self-harmful. :-)

Oh, Kelly, I remember that too. I loved that movie. Which should tell you a lot about my sense of humor I guess.

as most everyone said above me, we all have embarrassing guilty pleasure shows. mine? "america's best dance crew" (season 2), "america's next top model" (it pains me to say it) and because i caught it the other day channel-surfing, "queen bees" on the n. *feels shame*

i have also been known to watch "celebrity fit club" and "the surreal life." i need to unplug my tv ...

Posted by T on July 25 at 09:43am

Oh, what a relief. I thought I was the only one. I watch the show and read the books with a passion that was mostly fueled by Blake.

Oh, I love this blog. Its my therapy!!!

Posted by Me too! on July 25 at 09:50am

Okay, so who else is rooting for Sabrina and Nate to get together over the summer??? Because yeah, those two characters are the entire reason I watch this show. So So SO glad I'm not the only creepy thirty-something who watches it.

Posted by Monique on July 25 at 03:01pm

Phew! So I'm not the only one!

When I first started watching GG, I thought she was different looking and I was all, "Why didn't they pick someone famous and without a weird mouth?" HELLO! Now I adore her. I know several girls who would trade teams to do her, too, so we are not alone. And Sisterhood (the first one) is good...if you don't mind a bit of cheesiness.

Posted by Holly on July 28 at 08:39am

haha yeah she's gorgeous, had no idea about the nose job til now. I really do love the traveling pants books, and the first movie was good. I keep seeing advertisements for the second and I wanna see that too.

and I'm guilty too of watching Rock of Love...& So You Think You Can Dance?

but I recommend everyone watch "How to Look Good Naked". Carson is hilarious.

I am FAT, if we are fat we know it.
A concerned friend is one thing, but we are the last people you can make fun of in this politically correct country.
If I am fat, I know it.

Blake Lively is one of the most interesting young girls at Hollywood. She is a nice person with a laid back attitude and she looks amazing. I read about her way of life, diet and workout at http://www.projectweightloss.com. I was impressed!
