Year end review: The best...and worst...of body image in 2008‏

When more people are talking about Jennifer Love Hewitt's butt than about Obama being elected the first African-American president of the United States, you know you've hit a major hot-button issue. Body image was a big buzzphrase this year, from celebs to bloggers talking about all things airbrushed, dimpled or disordered. Weighting Game was no exception. Here, I offer you a recap of the Best...and the Worst of 2008:

The BEST

Ali Vincent becomes the first woman ever to win Biggest Loser.

At age 41, Dara Torres becomes the oldest woman ever to make the U.S. Olympic Swimming Team. We love her motto, “The water doesn’t know what age you are when you jump in, so why not?”

Kim Brittingham writes the faux book Fat is Contagious: How Sitting Next to a Fat Person Can Make You Fat and raises America’s consciousness about our fat bias.

Charlotte from The Great Fitness Experiment bears all with her stretch marks…and is beautiful.

I asked, “Is food blogging the next eating disorder?”…and got LOTS of responses.

...and the WORST

Reverse airbrushing makes itself known – apparently you CAN be too rich and too thin!

Christina Aguilera was preggers, naked and on the cover of Marie Claire...airbrushed into oblivion and setting impossible standards for pregnant women everywhere.

Princess Beatrice, daughter of Fergie, the Duchess of York, was on the receiving end of a low-blow body image attack.

Jennfier Love Hewitt dared to bare cellulite and the media tore into her for it.

Wow, what a year!
While I have very mixed feelings about "The Biggest Loser," it was great to see a woman win (finally!), and Ali seems like a cool, fun, down-to-earth kinda gal.
I must say I was a bit disappointed when Jennifer Love Hewitt appeared on the cover of "Us" magazine recently showing off her new, thinner shape. Not that she doesn't have the right to lose weight,
just the opposite: her body is her business, and unless she or anyone else is harming themselves, what right do any of us have to make comments on what they look like?
Finally Dara Torres rocks. As does Charlotte, and as do you, Leslie!!!!!!

I am so excited for Kim!! Her new book is going to be fab. Def. a highlight of the year. And check out those muscles on Ali! Whoooeee, girl! I agree with Alyssa about J.Lo Hewitt. It does seem like the pressure got to her.

Beautiful Lady's with a Great Body.

I had it shipped overnight via UPS and the next day I spent all day waiting for the UPS truck to arrive. With the Christmas delivery season, it didn't arrive at my home until about 8:30pm that night. In my order was my sleek black PSP system and three game titles: Minna no Golf, Vampire Chronicles, and Ridge Racers.wow goldI would spend the next few weeks with my PSP permanently glued to my hands. There aren't many games in my 28 years of playing video games that I genuinely love as much as Final Fantasy X. I think it's the greatest video game ever made, and was just mind-blowing when it first came out. As past participant I've learned that if the body is well run from inside out it will look good in appearance & feel strong in way of energy. I did body & emotional healing in my 30s which gave me a well being feeling from inside out.It allowed Spirit,mind & body to flow with ease so age was then only a number.After all the body's a running unit with an outer suit it can be believed that being young does carry more in energy & health. I use to have different eating habits,drank lots of water which made the inside body flow with ease. Stress not battering the outer body area,when I'd meet someone the inner flow of age showed as being young. We all age,but it's how we develop ourselves from inside out that'll shine through exuding also a beautiful glow.For now the body I carry broke down due to a Stroke at 46,I'm now 50 learning differently & activating the other part of the brain.This will be my year,age again becomes just a number.I'll become healthier than even before.Congrats Dara Torres & thanks for the push
